Can we put that in everyday words?
Ask for a word to be explained whenever it gets in the way. These meanings can help you ask the next question.
A word is useful when it makes the answer clearer.
Peptide
A peptide consists of a short chain of the units used in proteins. As of September 26, 2026, “peptide” describes a substance’s makeup; it does not establish approval for a medicine. To assess an offer, request the medicine’s exact name and find out whether it has approval or is prepared to order.
Compounding
Compounding means preparing or altering medicine for a particular patient’s need, in place of a finished product made in a factory. The FDA’s examples describe leaving a dye out of medicine because the patient is allergic to it.
Telehealth
Telehealth lets you discuss care from a distance by video call, telephone or messages exchanged online. In guidance checked September 28, 2026, North Carolina’s Medical Board permits care to start online without a previous office visit. The clinician must still gather enough information to work out what is wrong and plan treatment.
Formulary
An insurance plan uses a list called a formulary to decide which medicines it covers. Ask whether the exact product is on your plan’s list.
Prior authorization
Prior authorization is the plan’s advance permission to pay for a proposed prescription. Ask what information the plan needs and who will send it.
MedWatch
MedWatch is the FDA service where patients and care professionals can report problems with medical products. The MedWatch reporting page is where you can start a report about a problem with a medicine.
